Brief 4 - Atlas Geotechnical iconography

Cosmic devised a brand identity for Atlas Geotechnical, a company that "delivers exceptional engineering solutions worldwide." As part of their identity, Cosmic created an iconography set which communicated and outlined their project services. I love the clean, balanced and geometric form, especially with a single line width throughout — it ensures consistency and ultimately creates a unique brand aesthetic. The clinical approach was to reflect their functionality which I think has been achieves.

Brief 4 - Iconography

Bond Agency devised this branding and signage system for Aschan Deli in Finland. The symbol representations of the food and drink are used throughout the identity and are formed through simple line work. The iconography is fresh and modern and although appear very geometric due to the structured line work, they are well balanced with the subtle curves — wine glass, steam etc.

Brief 4 - Afterhours campaign

Sumo created this campaign for the National History Museum that combined all of their adult evening events into one united brand. Their primary focus was to ultimately make it easier for visitors to understand due to the abundant of events on offer. The subtle type treatment does not overpower the imagery and creates a flexible mark that could be applied to a range of promotional media. Seeing a campaign like this translated through the entire museum gives me inspiration for my own campaign — ensuring the brand is uniform yet engaging.

Brief 4 - Surry Hills Library

The Surry Hills Library is an eco-sustainable building with the highest efficiency rating of any government building in Sydney. Collider were commissioned to create the principle signage and ultimately created something permanent. Each module block not only contains the relevant information, but the way it protrudes indicates the direction you need to follow — very clever.

I love how unique and extraordinary this signage application is; I've never seen anything like this before and although never feasible for a museum such as Warrington Museum, it is definitely worth taking into consideration how the wayfinding would be produced and applied.

Brief 4 - Bristol Museum

Cartiledge Levine were commissioned to design and implement a signage and wayfinding system for Bristol Museum, a museum that is housed in one of the UK's finest Edwardian baroque buildings. To avoid adhering any material to the listed building stonework, they used painted timber panels which simply leant against the wall and in turn creates a visually interesting juxtaposition against the traditional Edwardian interior and even the collections themselves. Just using block colour is an immediate identifier to signage and way finding in a building full of historic artwork and collections.

Brief 4 - Polziom 511

Jarek Kowalczyk was commissioned to devise a signage system and identity for Poliziom 511, a contemporary design hotel and bar. The hotel encourages various forms of artistic expression from music to fashion and is reflected in the exceptional architecture throughout the space. The icons are beautifully designed and compliment the type brilliantly.

The stripped back and minimal aesthetic goes hand-in-hand with its surroundings — I love this identity. For my warrington museum brief, its aesthetic may be too simplistic and contemporary (as I intend to target it towards children as well as adults) but is definitely a huge inspiration.

Brief 4 - Skagens museum

Designbolaget designed the following identity for Skagens museum alongside a sub-identity for their 100th year anniversary. The combination of historic artwork and a white wrap around creates an interesting juxtaposition and could be something I look at with the identity for Warrington museum. Warrington museum holds a diverse array of exhibitions so using this concept within their promotion materials could be a way of showcasing this diversity.

Brief 4 - The Photographers Gallery

North Design devised the following identity for The Photographers Gallery in London — it is currently the largest public gallery for Photography. They state they were inspired by the architectural frame of the building and used this as a basis of their framing mark. It has given me an idea to source inspiration for the museum identity from more abstract means, as well as looking at a literal interpretation. The identity is contemporary, coherent and is adapted well cross a range of graphic materials.
