Brief 3 - Hand painted type

Hand Painted Type is a project set up by Hanif Kureshi as a collaborative practice to preserve the hand painted, typographic street paintings across India. Many of these painters are going of business to due the emergence of desktop publishing and the ability to create vinyls. With the help of the public who locate these artists, Hand Painted Type translate the designs of a street painter into a fully functioning font, providing a commission to the artist themselves.

We could use a similar concept within our own project, using hand-rendered typography from different cultures as a basis of a font — it'd be interesting to explore and definitely rewarding, plus the research we gain will be invaluable.

This particular font costs $50 and comes in 9 layers.
